The Unbreakable Alliance : The United States of America Presidents and Australian Prime Ministers 1901-2026 volumes examines
the reliance of Australia on US military power, the balance of power within the Pacific and rising and assertive regional powers.
The relationship between Australia and the US has endured throughout wars, depressions and a period of benign times; a brief Pax Americana. We’ve fought together in every major conflict for over 100 years.
It is important to assess the leader-to-leader engagement between PMs and Presidents in the context of Australia’s overarching relationship with the US
and also the broader context impacting both nations.
Both volumes will enable future generations to understand and appreciate the historic bonds, personal engagements and strengths of the rapport between Australian and the United States political leaders. Many
of these relationships have had significant impacts on policy outcomes and indeed the broader trajectory of the two nations.
