A word from the author
I am writing to introduce you to a new and exciting resource for your school.
"The Little Flower Books, Set One and Set Two", are unique emergent readers, which are designed to initiate religious discussion whilst teaching children to read. The idea for the books evolved from concerns about the availability and appropriateness of religious literature for children at the early childhood level. So far the response from Catholic Schools and other educational institutions Australia wide has been overwhelming and encouraging.
As a teacher and Religious Education Co-ordinator with over 20 years experience I realise the potential for the use of such a resource in early childhood classrooms. It is intended that the books will be used as home readers in an attempt to initiate religious dialogue amongst family members. Many young families today are 'un-churched' for a variety of reasons and consideration needs to be given to other ways of getting the gospel message directly in to the home. This is just another attempt to meet that need. The books are inspired by the theology of St Therese of Lisieux, focusing on the simple connectedness children have to their creator.
There are 50 books in the complete series and Set One has been available for a short time now. With the help of publisher Connor Court Publishing I am pleased to be able to now offer you Set Two. Depending on the success of this set we are hoping to make the whole series available in the near future.
