    Gene Tunny is an economist, with his own Brisbane-based consultancy
    practice, Adept Economics. He formerly worked as an official in the
    Commonwealth Treasury and in the Queensland public service in various
    departments. In 2016, Gene was the co-course leader for the Australia Awards
    short-course Strengthening Public Policy Processes for Emerging Leaders in the
    Indonesian Ministry of Finance, delivered at the University of Queensland
    (UQ), Brisbane and in Bandung, West Java. He is a frequent media
    commentator on Queensland economic and budgetary issues and has his
    own blog, Queensland Economy Watch. Gene is the current Vice-President
    of the Queensland branch of the Economic Society of Australia. He is a
    graduate of UQ with a first class honours degree and university medal in
